Most business managers would argue that they have a robust strategy. This is often not the case. A strategy needs to align to the Vision of the organisation. It often doesn’t. Without a clear strategy, a business will lose direction, misuse resources, get seduced by wrong opportunities and waste time. Current business culture dic tates a strategic plan be created for, say, a five year period and revisited annually. It is questionable whether this is a satisfactory model.
strategicpulse.com believes that strategy should be at the forefront of business thought on a regular basis. Acquisition, retention and growth strategies, scale, brand positioning, competitor actions, market segmentation, price pointing, production and financial modelling are best dealt with when the organisation’s strategy is aligned to the organisation’s Vision. An independent strategy for each of these areas without alignment with other areas causes an organisation to fight against itself. A business needs to rise above the operational day to day activity and spend quantity time to work on and refine its strategy. Quality drops out of quantity.
